The year is drawing to a close. In regards to smart devices released this year it has not been in the slightest bit disappointing – there are many worthy brands that provide enough value to contend for smartphone or tablet or smartwatch of the 2015.

The folks at Phone Arena have consolidated the results of their polls in the annual Reader Awards to see which devices in their respective categories are users’ favorites for the year. Though it may be quite Android-biased, Apple and Microsoft also have also been represented to a certain degree.

In each of five categories – best smartphone, best large smartphone, best value-for-money phone, best tablet, and best smartwatch – there were conspicuous winners. Samsung dominated best smartphone, best large smartphone, and best smartwatch with the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and Samsung Gear S2 respectively; best value-for-money went to Motorola Moto G (3rd gen) while Microsoft Surface Pro 4 nabbed best tablet.

Considering the poor sales of Samsung flagships this year, the results for the smartphone categories were pretty surprising.

For best smartphone the Galaxy S6 and its Edge variant won a combined 41.85 percent of votes with the iPhone 6s coming in a far second with 16 percent of votes. The Nexus 6P was recognized behind the Galaxy Note 5 for best large smartphone.

As for budget smartphones, OnePlus overtakes Motorola if we combine the votes for models that represent each brand; the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X tally to 33.85 percent of votes compared to the Moto G and Moto E combined at 25.16 percent.
What do you think of the results? Do you agree that Samsung is the best smartphone brand of 2015?
