The Chevrolet Colorado is the number one choice in the midsized pickup truck segment but its position is now being threatened by Ford. The latter has confirmed on the return of the next-gen Ranger and it promises a performance that is second to none.

The Ranger will be built on the same platform that is used to develop the global Ranger but its design has been tweaked with features inspired by the F-150. The powertrain coming to the Ranger is unknown at the moment but we can expect Ford to offer plenty of choices in this department.

If Ford play their cards right, they can certainly deal the final blow to the Colorado. The midsized pickup from Chevrolet is not doing too well at the moment as it had just recorded a big decline on the sales front for the month of May 17.

Chevrolet managed to sell only 9,091 Colorados and this translates to a drop of about 1.1% when compared to the year before. If the Colorado is unable to show any recovery on the sales front, we expect things to get a lot worst for the vehicle once Ford launches the next-gen Ranger.
