After years of excruciating wait, we will finally be getting Honda’s Civic Type R in America. This is definitely exciting news to auto fans but it looks like Honda’s racer-boy may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Threads on Reddit reveal that most folks are finding the Civic Type R’s styling are a little too over the top for them to seriously consider it.
It could be that this is Honda’s strategy to produce a car that looks fitting for the younger generation but price it high enough that only the older generation may be able to purchase it. According to a Redditor, this appeals to the older generation folks who are longing to feel young again.
However, some feel that this is a step forward for the brand as Honda has often played on the safe side. So, it’s refreshing to see Honda shedding its previous image and venturing toward riskier routes.
That said, we doubt that Honda is concerned about this particular issue with its Civic Type R styling as the model is a limited production vehicle and it isn’t looking to be a large seller.
Do you think the all-new Civic Type R’s styling is too aggressive looking? Or, is it just enough to make its mark on the American market?
The US-spec 2017 Honda Civic Type R is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged I4, capable of churning out 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
