Despite the Honda Civic and Accord selling well, it looks like the 2017 CR-V has been catching more hearts than the former two.
The Honda Civic was named as the best-selling sedan in the US last year and it was also one of the top options for 2015. The Civic comes with a stunning design, impressive fuel economy, and it can accelerate fast but, it still loses out to the Honda CR-V as the latter is the company favorite.
Honda has been channeling their entire focus on the CR-V – just look at the recent Super Bowl where the SUV was the only model promoted by the automaker. Some folks find this surprising as the crossover hasn’t been a best-seller and it’s not the flagship model.
The Honda CR-V went through a redesign recently and it came out looking bigger and better compared to its predecessor that tops the class. On top of that, this year marks the SUV’s 20th anniversary; so, it could have been the driving factor behind Honda choosing to focus on it for the Super Bowl.
Back in 2016, Honda successfully sold 97,718 vehicles and light trucks, marking a 7.7 percent increase. The leader of the January sales was the 2017 Honda CR-V and the subcompact HR-V.
That said, the Civic was the best-seller in the US during 2016 and it is fighting for the title this year too. The Accord, on the other hand, is the flagship vehicle but Honda may crank up their SUV market effort as they have conquered the other two markets already.
