2017 Honda Ridgeline: Mercedes Threat Still Real

With the Ford Ranger only arriving soonest by 2018, the Honda can breathe a sigh of relief as there would be a lot of space for the new Ridgeline to grow in the US mid-size pickup market.

It was initially thought to be making an entrance to the US market, but the upcoming Mercedes pickup – dubbed the GLT for now – that’s based on the Nissan Navara is reportedly set for almost every other market but North America.

However, the possibility of Mercedes deciding that its truck should compete for US buyers cannot be ruled out, as the German automaker hasn’t confirmed that it is actually ruling out the US market.

Various reports have strongly suggested that the likelihood of the Mercedes GLT being sold stateside is low, but the Daimler brand hasn’t completely made up its mind.

With the mid-size pickup segment posting continual growth and glowing with robust demand, the temptation may just lead to the market entry of a premium Ridgeline rival.

  • I think you can really rule this out of the NA market as it has been designed specifically for the Global ” 1 Tonne” market
Hyundai is not going to build the Santa Cruz concept for the US,but a ” 1 Tonne” for the Global Market, time frame 2020
