The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded the 2017 Kia Cadenza with the Top Safety Pick+ award as the newly revamped model scored well in the small overlap front test, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests.

The 2017 model is the first Cadenza to undergo this test for small overlap front protection. IIHS states that the 2017 Kia Cadenza’s driver space was well kept and the maximum intrusion of four inches at the parking brake pedal.

Aside that, the organization also said that the airbags and safety belt worked well to control the dummy’s movement and showed that drivers will have low risk of injuries.

That’s not all – the model’s optional front crash prevention system managed to avoid collisions in IIHS track tests of 25mph and 12mph and there was also a forward collision warning feature that satisfies the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration criteria.

Meanwhile, the LED lights that comes with Limited and Technology trims received acceptable rating as it worked well in providing visibility in all circumstances. However, the halogen lights on the Premium trim gained a poor rating.
