BMW showed off its all-new M4 CS during the recent Shanghai Auto Show and this powerful machine sits right between the M4 Competition Package and the top range M4 GTS.
However, it is believed that the production of the M4 CS will not be limited, unlike the M4 GTS. The automaker has re-engineered the model’s 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-six mill to produce 454 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of twist.
It’s pretty obvious that BMW has taken some cues off its GTS for the M4 CS by adopting a couple of weight loss methods. Just like the GTS, the M4 CS comes with a roof, trunklid spoiler, diffuser and front splitter made out of lightweight carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
There is also some new lightweight door trims equipped next to the door pull loops. All these add up to about 71 pounds of weight loss over the regular M4 and 22 pounds over the M4 Competition Package.
Thanks to the weight loss paired with its dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission, the M4 CS is capable of hitting 62mph in only 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 174mph, and that’s .3 seconds faster that its M4 Competition Package.
The model, arriving in North America in early next year, is said to come in Lime Rock Grey metallic, Alpine White, San Marino Blue metallic, Sapphire Black metallic and Frozen Dark Blue II hue options.
