Americans have long waited for the Honda Civic Type R, one of the most iconic hatchbacks with performance akin a sports car. And now, the new five-door hatch car is finally arriving to the US this spring.

Honda recently unveiled the new Civic Type-R at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show and the manufacturer’s suggested retail price is about mid-$30,000.

American Honda Motor’s senior VP and general manager, Jeff Conrad, said that the new Type-R is the fastest and most potent Honda Civic ever sold in America. He added that long and tiring wait for the “forbidden fruit of Honda Type-R performance” is finally over.

Jalopnik reports that the front wheel drive Civic Type-R will be equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L four cylinder i-VTEC engine, churning out 306hp and 295lb-ft of torque.

Honda claims that the new five-door Honda Civic Hatchback is a “bad boy” as it comes with a body of 40 percent more rigid compared to the old European Honda Civic Type-R. Aside that, it comes with a substantial body, chassis and braking upgrades.
