Honda dropped the news that the all-new Civic Type-R will be making its official US debut at the New York Auto Show while sales will kick off late spring.

Honda’s first ever Type-R model to arrive in the US will be price about “mid-$30k MSRP,” as revealed by the automaker itself. This will place it against the likes of the mighty Ford Focus RS, with a price tag of about $36,120.

This performance Civic will be equipped with a 316hp 2.0L four-cylinder mill churning out power to the front axle via a manual six-speed tranny along with a rev-matching function.

The senior vice president and general manager of the American Honda Motor stated that, “The fastest, most powerful Honda ever sold in America, the Type R caps off the incredible success story of our 10th generation Civic lineup.”

“We’re happy to inform our U.S. enthusiasts that the long wait for the forbidden fruit of Honda Type R performance is nearly over!” added Jeff Conrad.

During the last Geneva Motor Show, Honda showed off the final production version of the Honda Civic Type-R with a 38 percent stronger body along with an independent multi-link setup for its rear suspension.

Look out for the all-new Honda Civic Type R, as well as the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid and the Clarity Electric, during the New York Auto Show.
