During the recent 2017 Shanghai Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz showed off its new AMG-tuned S-Class models bearing some pretty impressive upgrades.
One of the most notable change is the downsizing of the 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63’s mill. Previously, the model came with a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 but now, the automaker has switched it with a 4.0-liter V8 engine.
Although the displacement is smaller, the new mill is capable of churning out 603 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Despite having the same torque outputs, this engine produces 26 horsepower more than the previous model.
The S63 is also a little bit more efficient this time around thanks to its brand new nine-speed variant of the AMG Speedshift MCT tranny.
The S65, on the other hand, carries on its 6.0-liter twin turbocharged V12 that is capable of producing 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. The model also retains its seven-speed MCT automatic tranny.
When it comes to styling, both the S63 and S65 have been slightly revamped to bring on a more sporty overall vibe with a refreshed front fascia with large intakes along with a new rear diffusers.
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 and S65 will be arriving to dealerships sometime this fall; are you one that is excited to nab it?
