Anders Bell, Volvo’s previous senior director of engineering, will be linking up with Tesla in a similar role this December. Bell has affirmed this via his LinkedIn profile over the weekend, according to Electrek.
Bell had invested his whole career at Volvo where he lead the entire interior engineering from concept development as well as design to being in charge of launch for the last two years. This is the man who designed the interior of the 2015’s Volvo S60L along with the SPA cross carline front seat setup released on the previous year’s Volvo XC90.
Prior to getting an upgrade to an executive position, Bell spent four years in China where he constructed the interior and climate engineering department of ‘Volvo Cars China’. He had also been in charge of supervising the launch of the XC60 SUV.
Now that Bell is working with Tesla, he would need to enhance the interior quality of Tesla’s models to come on par to what buyers usually anticipate from a premium product. Of course, Tesla’s interior hasn’t been bad since the inception of the Model S, but they can’t seem to surpass the interior of Mercedes, BMW or even Audi.
With Bell’s entry into Tesla, we can expect to see the kind of luxury found in the Volvo S90 to be applied to the Model S.
