We have seen many carmakers collaborating with Google to develop a pure Android infotainment system and it looks like Toyota does not want to follow the trend.

The Japanese carmaker revealed earlier today that an Android-powered infotainment system may bring huge improvements to user experience but it won’t be original. Toyota went on to reveal that they have decided to develop their own infotainment system and it will be powered by Linux.

Linux is the same system which Android is built on and this makes it certain that Toyota’s brand of infotainment system will be just as good, if not better. Toyota will fine-tune the system to serve their cars with all the information needed and they will also manage updates should there be any.

Toyota concluded by saying that the Linux-based infotainment system will be making its debut on the 2018 Toyota Camry and we can’t wait to check out what it has to offer.
