BMW is set to bring it’s new diesel-powered 540d into the United States, according to a report by Car & Driver.
The report details that a BMW spokesperson has affirmed that the 540d will be announced soon and it will be joining the company’s lineup of diesel models which includes the328d and the X5 xDrive35d.
Although BMW is still keeping a tight lip on the new model, the rumor mill has been hinting that the model will be just like the European version of the 530d.
This means it may be coming with a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder diesel mill which is capable of churning out 261 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque and it will be mated to an eight-speed automatic tranny.
With the help of this mill, the model will be able to hit 62mph in just 5.7 seconds while recording a top speed of 155mph.
Keep in mind that the US specifications have yet to be announced but since the model is slated for sale later this year, we can expect to hear more detail in the following months.
