Ford has been trying to solidify its statement that there is a substitute for displacement with its new Ford GT, churning out 647hp from its V6 engine, as well as its F-150 Raptor, worth 450hp from its twin-turbo 3.5L V6.

Despite foregoing displacement, the V6 was still powerful enough to crush the 6.2L V8 Raptor when it tried to take on the new models.

But, most folks are keen on seeing how the Ford would do when placed head-to-head with its main rival, a Chevrolet. Chevy doesn’t have a potent truck like the Raptor but it does have a Silverado 1500 fitted with the 6.2L V8 capable of producing 420hp.

Although not reaching Raptor’s level, it is still higher than the last Raptor, with 411hp, that finished last in the same race some time back.

It turned out that the Chevy managed to save face and not lose too badly but things got heated up when a Fiat Chrysler enters the picture.

That V-6 is going to be working real hard for way to many miles to survive any length of time. I am going to guess this truck / engine combo if is used as is advertised to have a short engine life. With that I expect ford to do dramatic changes under the hood to make it live (go back to the V-8)
