Although the Google Pixel 2 camera performance is great takes to the Pixel Visual Core, users will only get to enjoy it if they only use apps from Google. Third-party apps were not given access to the tech and thus users find themselves taking worse pictures when they use the camera on the other third-party apps.
Well, that will end soon as Google announced that they will be opening the tech to all developers. This will allow third-party apps to use the tech to improve their image quality which would ultimately benefit their Pixel 2 users.
Some of the apps that will benefit most from this will be apps like Snapchat and Instagram. Besides the Pixel Visual Core, Google is also updating the AR Stickers to support the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. Users will get winter sport-themed stickers. Both these updates will be rolled up in the coming days.
