It looks like Grand Theft Auto V won’t be getting Red Dead Redemption V and Leisurewear, one of the modders, have confirmed this via the GTA forums, according to GameSpot.

Red Dead Redemption V is a high-profile mod which was meant to place Red Dead Redemption’s map inside of GTA 5. However, Leisurewear clarified that the mod team was contacted following the release of their trailer.

“I know this is hard pill to swallow, but as you may have noticed we did get contacted, and we sadly have to say we are stopping this project..So thanks guys, we were all so happy to see this, but it isn’t going to happen, sorry,” stated Leisurewear.

The report suggested that the party that reached out to them could have been Take-Two, the party that own the rights to Rockstar Games series, as this is a common occurrence for publishers to jump in and put a stop to fan projects.

Red Dead Redemption V, a single-player game only, was announced back in March and a beta version was initially planned to be unleashed sometime this summer – sadly, this won’t be happening. Are you as disappointed as we are?
