The unlocked version of the Moto Z in the United States has started receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update via an over-the-air update, according to a report by Droid-Life.
This info has been affirmed by one of their readers who has seen the update on his device. The new version is labeled as NPL25.86-17-3; however, it looks like the security patch is still listed as November, 2016.
This shows that Moto Z owners are still missing out on a couple of months worth of security patches. We’re hoping that the company will pick up on this as a unsecured device could bring about potential risks.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update will be bringing all the standard Nougat features into the Motorola device, such as support for Multi-Window, efficient notification controls along with some battery improvements.
If you are an unlocked Moto Z owner and have yet to receive the update, you could always manually check for it via the Settings tab. Don’t forget to share your Nougat experience with us once you do!
