Most folks didn’t pay much attention to the Nexus 6 when it was launched. Although the phablet trend was strong, many preferred devices that stayed inside the 5.7-inch mark.
However, the Nexus 6 turned out to be a well-designed model. It even defied the stereotype that anything that passes the5.7-inch mark would need either both hands or a stylus to use.
Even so, Google saw the Nexus 6 as merely a one-time thing and didn’t have any plans to produce better variants of it. After the Nexus 6, the Nexus 6P and the Pixel XL followed but they were entirely different devices.
The best move for the Mountain View giants is to turn to the Nexus 6 to pick up some design cues for the Pixel and Pixel XL successors. Google is currently asking for fans’ help to provide feedback on the design of its current models.
Since the Nexus 6 is one of the most popular models of the Nexus series, it could end up being the benchmark for all upcoming Pixel devices.
That said, if the rumor mill is true, we can also expect to see the Galaxy S8+ sporting a 6.2-inch size. This will definitely be great news for all Nexus 6 fans all over the globe.
