It is very unusual when an Android OEM device gets more support than a Google badged Android device, especially if the OEM device is produced by a China-based tech company.

We’re talking about the new ZTE Axon 7. This China-made device is fitted with everything that most Nexus 6P users have been craving for. For one, the Axon 7 comes with the latest update, Android 7.0 Nougat, which Nexus 6P users have been patiently waiting for what seems like forever now.

On top of that, the Axon 7 is certified to be compatible with Daydream, Google’s new virtual reality device. This alone is a strong indicator that the Axon 7 has more Android features to offer users compared to the Nexus 6P.

At this point, calling it unusual is pretty much an understatement as it’s downright weird that Google has been withholding these features from the Nexus 6P. In the past, it has always been the case that any new features from Google will be launched along with a Nexus device, however, things seem to be going in a different direction now.

This is fake news. Nexus 6p has this and is getting 7.1.1 shortly. You can do it manually if you like.

I have the ZTE Axon 7 and it has not received the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade. All the information I’ve seen with the exception of this article suggests the upgrade will not be available until January 2017.
