Pokemon Go may have been the largest mobile gaming hit of last year but China has denied its entry. The Chinese government has decided to ban the location-based game, along with similar AR mobile experiences, on the grounds of security.
The government believes that this game could pose a serious threat to the lives of the gamers as the game requires walking around in the real world while catching virtual monsters. This could lead player into dangerous situations without them noticing as they’re too preoccupied with the game.
Well, China’s decision doesn’t sound too crazy as we have heard of reports of people being hit by cars or robbed while playing Pokemon Go.
China’s Digital Publishing Association has revealed that China will be sticking to its decision until the “potential security risks have been evaluated.” Risks here pertain to the “threat to geographical information security and the threat to transport and the personal safety of consumers,” added the association.
