The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the three fastest road-legal production car on the Nurburgring but its position is now being threatened by Dodge. Despite having recorded an impressive time of 6 minutes and 57 seconds, the 918 Spyder may just fall behind the discontinued Dodge Viper ACR.
The fifth generation Viper ACR had just completed its first attempt around the legendary Ring and the car managed 7 minutes and 3 seconds. This is about 6 seconds behind the 918 Spyder thus giving the stock Viper ACR a great potential to outpace the insane German car.
The first attempt was driven by professional racer Dominik Farnbacher and he was still getting used to the track while seeing how fast he can go with the Viper ACR. The timings are expected to improve in the second or third attempt, and we may see the car edging past the 918 Spyder.
The Viper has yet to announce on its best lap yet but the first attempt is already enough to name the car as the fastest manual-operated vehicle around.
