Before Capcom pulled the shroud off the first demo of Resident Evil 7, all eyes were on Resident Evil 2 Remake. Few believed that the seventh installment in the series was going to be anything special, judging by how the fifth and sixth titles fared.
When RE7 came out everything changed, and no one was paying attention to the remake of the 1998 classic anymore. That’s not to say that Capcom doesn’t have something momentous planned for it, seeing that it’s not going to merely be a remaster.
Instead it’s going to be remade from scratch. Now that the buzz is starting to die down on RE7, it’s high time we started focusing on the remake again. Sadly, there’s really nothing for us to grasp on at the moment.
Many had expected the release of RE7 to be accompanied by the first demo of RE2 Remake, but there hasn’t been anything so far, not even a word from Capcom on what’s happening with the game’s development. At this point the easiest guess is that the developer wanted gamers to focus fully on RE7 without any distractions.
So far there are many fans who hold fast to the assumption that Capcom’s grand plan to remake RE2 from scratch would involve shifting the camera angle, perhaps to first-person akin RE7. Some like the idea, some abhor it.
