Samsung Galaxy S7 Won’t Get Android 7.0 Nougat

Although it’s bad news that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will not be joining the 7.0 Nougat party, it is justified with news that these devices will be heading straight into the latest update, the Android 7.1 Nougat.

The Seoul-based smartphone manufacturer’s Galaxy Beta Program is currently running and it gives access to its members to test out the Android 7.0 Nougat update on their Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. However, this is only the first part of the program as the final Nougat update for the device will be the Android 7.1.

The Nougat update had first arrived as Android 7.0 which came equipped on the LG V20 and Nexus device. But, Google had launched its Pixel smartphones with an improved version of the update, called the v7.1.

Despite the new update not bringing much enhancement, it does aid in improving the vital functions as well as touch performance of the devices. Plus, it also comes bearing Daydream VR support.

With that, there is still no affirmation that the Gear VR will be compatible with Daydream but Samsung, Google and a couple of others did make up the list of the Global VR Association.
