Smartphones with a display size that is smaller than 5” are hard to come by these days and it is even harder to find a small device with flagship-like specs. It wasn’t like this in the past thanks to the Samsung Mini Series but their disappearance has left a huge void in the market.
There have been a lot of talks about the Mini making a return this year through the Galaxy S8 but the lack of official information on the matter greatly suggests that it is not happening.
Well, today we can stop hoping for the Galaxy S8 Mini to happen as Sony is hoping to tackle the niche market with a flagship-like mini phone. The device that is tentatively known as the Xperia XZ1 Compact is scheduled to arrive in Q3 this year and it will rely on the best hardwares around.
A leak surfaced earlier today and it says that the XZ1 Compact will have a 4.6” 1080p display. The leak also mentioned that the XZ1 Compact will run on Snapdragon 835 with 4GB of RAM. To complete the package, the phone will be IP68-certified and it will have a 2,800mAh battery.
The specs certainly sounds great and it gives the XZ1 Compact the prospects of being the most powerful smartphone under 5” yet. The XZ1 Compact is scheduled to get unveiled at the IFS Expo happening in Berlin in September this year and you can look forward to hearing more details then.
