Tesla Hopes To Improve Safety With Its Semi Truck

While we were all caught up with hunting for Easter eggs and chomping down yummy Sunday spreads, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to drop the news that the company will be revealing its latest model soon.

Tesla has long disclose of its plans to venture into the trucking industry with its electric and autonomous tech and now, it looks like the team is ready for the big reveal.

Musk said via a Tweet that, “Tesla Semi truck unveil set for September. Team has done an amazing job. Seriously next level.”

Although the automaker isn’t letting everything out of the bag just yet, it is believed that Tesla will be incorporating the brand’s knowledge in Autopilot autonomous tech to bring down operating costs for fleets.

Musk is confident that its Autopilot tech applied in the trucking sector would enhance safety by reducing dependence on human drivers.

Last year, while speaking to CNBC, Musk said that, “I think it’ll actually be a big safety improvement because you get a lot of accidents when drivers are tired behind the wheel.”

“It’ll be a few years after trucks can self drive before regulators have seen enough data to feel comfortable not having a driver in the car,” added Musk.
