Car makers are getting the message that there is a need to keep up with the latest tech trends in the automotive industry in order to remain competitive.

Advantage is not just a matter of driving dynamics anymore – it’s that on top of better connectivity while driving.

That’s why it’s a smart move for Hyundai to adopt Apple CarPlay compatibility for its 2016 Sonata, which just posted amazing sales numbers for March.

Against March 2015, sales for last month went up by 56.9 percent while its current YTD total is at a 37.5 increase compared to the same period last year. The Sonata’s is the highest YTD growth among all the top 20 vehicles in the US.

The inclusion of Apple CarPlay on top of the already available Android Auto means that drivers would benefit from the convenience of Siri-guided features that makes for easier connected interactivity while keeping their hands on the wheel.

However, CarPlay support is only made available for the standard models of the Sonata for now. It will be due for the hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants of the sedan some time later this year or the next.

I bought a Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Limited Sport back in August of 2015 due to the fact that Hyundai promised to provide Apple Carplay in the 2015 Sonata back in 2014. My Sonata came with Android Auto but not Apple Carplay. I have an iPhone 6 Plus. Hyundai then promised to announce when Apple Carplay with be available for the 2015 Sonata by the first quarter of 2016. Now on April 1st Hyundai once again fails to deliver by delaying Apple Carplay for the 2015 Hyundai Sonata. This is crazy!
