Come early 2017, the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 43, a performance version of the German SUV, will be replacing the GLE 400.
The latest GLE, the ninth Mercedes AMG 43 model, comes equipped with a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 362 horsepower and 384 lb-ft torque.
It is an all-wheel-drive vehicle complete with a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
Branden Coté, AMG Manager, stated that the expanding of the AMG lineup was inline with the demand for performance-oriented vehicles.
He added that, “AMG is well-positioned in the US marketplace due to our nine new AMG 43 vehicles, four of which are performance-oriented SUV models. We will continue to build the AMG brand and portfolio in 2017 with more variants such as the model year 2018 AMG GT R and the GT/GT C Roadsters.”
The latest GLE comes with a variety of AMG-tuned features such as the steering, braking configuration, the sports suspensions and the throttle mapping.
The new GLE 43 is an ideal rival to the Porsche Macan GTS which costs $67k and delivers 360hp and 369lb-ft torque from a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine.
