Jeep is currently working on a new Grand Cherokee and it is expected to be fitted with the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine churning out 707 horsepower. This new model is dubbed the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and it just may be the quickest model in its segment.
However, the Dodge Durango may be competing with it for the title of the fastest. The Durango has always been an equal counterpart to the Grand Cherokee as these two models share a lot of parts.
Dodge will be launching a more potent variant of the Durango, the Durango SRT, sometime in the second half of this year. This model has had its fair share of rumors and it’s great that it is finally realizing. The Durango SRT will be equipped with a 6.4-liter V8 mill worth 475 horsepower.
Sounds crazy but this has already been done with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. So, the entry of the Durango SRT will only make it even more similar to the Grand Cherokee, compared to in the past.
Well, it is pretty obvious that there is a growing trend here and this could result in the development of a 707hp Durango. Fiat Chrysler would easily approve this, as it has done in the past, thus it seems plausible that there could be a Durango Hellcat coming our way in the years to come.
