The 2018 Subaru WRX STI will be losing its 2.5-liter boxer engine to make way for a new 2.0-liter engine. The mill is said to be worth over 325 horsepower with about 295 lb-ft torque.

There are also talks on the prospect of a hybrid variant of the Impreza WRX STI, but we doubt Subaru would be heading down that road anytime soon. Subaru’s hybrid system for its upcoming model is not precisely performance-oriented so it just may degrade the capability of this car.

Although the hybrid system may improve the vehicle’s fuel economy and emissions, the price hike will not be able to justify for it.

The latest Subaru WRX STI is expected to be making some revamps to the traditional styling it is known for, such as an addition of a hood scoop to feed its intercooler at the top as well as a dual exhaust setup, a new wheel pattern and some slight body modifications.

Interior wise, it is slated to receive some sporty features but don’t expect too much as this model has never paid much focus in that aspect.
