A lot of SUVs and crossovers are finding it hard to get a Top Safety Pick + rating from IIHS mainly due to their headlights being not good enough but that is not an issue that the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan drivers will have to worry about.
IIHS has just announced that the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan was given the Top Safety Pick + rating, the highest that the institute has to offer. Do take in mind that this will be for the model that was built after June and was fitted with the curve-adapted LED headlight with high-beam assist.
This will be the second model from Volkswagen that was given the award with the first one being the 2019 GTi model. Besides getting a good rating for all six crash tests, the LED headlights were alo given a Good rating. Of course, the lower-trim models will only be fitted with the halogen reflector headlights which was given a poor rating by IIHS.
The 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan will come powered by a 2.0-liter engine that will be offering about 184hp and 221lb ft of torque with the engine being mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
