With all the time Chevrolet spends testing the C8 Corvette out at the Nurburgring track, it does not surprise us that they already have the numbers down.
According to Motor Authority, Chevrolet also has the numbers for the C8 Corvette with the time set by Corvette Racing driver Oliver Gavin but they do not want to share it right now. Mike Petrucci, the Corvette Lead Development Engineer did say that it exceeded the goals of the development team but did not reveal anything more.
We know that the front-engined C7 Corvette ZR1 was able to get a 7:04 lap time but we can only guess at what the C8 Corvette got now that it has its engine shifted to the middle.
The Corvette will come powered by the 6.2 liters naturally aspirated LT2 V8 engine that will be offering about 495hp and 470lb ft of torque and will be mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
