While we were all happy that GM managed to improve the EPA mileage of the Chevrolet Silverado, there was a price to pay and in this case, it was the towing numbers for the trucks.
GM announce that the Silverado could only tow about 9300 pounds which is way lower than what their rivals are offering right now at 11,500 for the Ford 150 PowerStroke and 12,560 for the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.
It was explained that one of the main reason why the towing number were cap was that they had to keep the engine and system from overheating due to the changes made to keep its fuel-efficient. They are now looking on way to keep the engine cooler just so that they can boost the tow numbers by replacing the grille.
If they do manage to do it, it won’t be the only upgrade we will see the 2021 model come with as it was reported that the 2021 model could also come with an updated interior.
