Google unleashed its Android 7.1.2 Nougat developer preview update recently and claimed that this is merely just another incremental maintenance release. However, that turned out to be untrue as this update brought two major features along with it.

As exciting as that may be, not all Nexus devices have received the green light for it. While the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P made it into the list of eligible devices, the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 were left out in the dark.

Well, it’s pretty obvious now that Google has officially bid farewell to these two Nexus devices. That said, both these devices are still eligible for all the monthly Android updates for this year.

The two major features mentioned earlier is the fingerprint gesture support and Google Assistant, which was a Pixel exclusive previously. These are premium features that are coming to the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P.

Nougat is the final software for the Nexus 6 from Google but instead of allowing the beloved device to experience the full potential of the update, Google suddenly decides to cap it at Android 7.1.1.

That’s not very nice, Google..
