When it was announced that Google is officially dropping support for Nexus 5 software updates, folks were disappointed but hardly surprised. The device has been around for three years, plus it encourages Nexus 5 users to move on to newer models.

The fact that the 5.0-inch stock Android model has been the first to receive the unofficial build of the update (CM14) is also not surprising, given its popularity.

Well, the Nexus 4 is also equally as popular as its successor, and true enough the heroes at XDA Developers have worked quickly to make sure the 2012 model fits into the custom Nougat ROM as well.

Understandably, the early unofficial Nougat build is rather buggy, but users don’t seem to mind at all. As far as they’re concerned, to so quickly share the same satisfaction as Nexus 5 users is worth celebrating.

Seeing that Nougat has not taken long at all to arrive to the Nexus 5 and Nexus 4, there is hope that certain other incredibly popular and enduring devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One M8 would enjoy Nougat pretty soon as well.
