There are many reasons the HTC One M9 wasn’t successful, and one of the main ones the lack of quality from its camera. HTC is looking to make reparations for the flagship in the same way it did for the One M8 by introducing a special camera variant.
Called the HTC One M9 Prime Camera Edition, it is to the One M9 what the HTC One M8 EYE was to the One M8. It didn’t really work out for the M8 EYE though, so HTC is hoping that matters would be different for the Prime Camera Edition.
Two changes arrive on this special model. Its camera unit is now at 13MP with f/2.0 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS). Those are the exact specs on the HTC One A9 camera, so we presume that the camera is a direct port from the mid-range device.
The Snapdragon 810 processor in the One M9 is replaced by MediaTek’s Helio X10 unit in the Prime Camera Edition, probably because of overheating issues with Qualcomm’s old flagship chipset in the all-metal build of the One M9.
Everything else remains the same, from the front-facing camera to the full HD display to the 2,840mAh battery. Unfortunately, the HTC One M9 Prime Camera Edition is only available in Europe.
