In conjunction with Mario Day which is on the 10th of March, Nintendo and Google decided to allow Mario to replace the standard icon in Google Maps. Instead of the boring arrow, you will now see Mario in his red kart but that is not all.

To use the feature, all you need to do is search for your destination. A ? will appear beside the standard Start button, if you click that, you will enable Mario Time. Once done, your arrow will become the Kart.

They also hide an easter egg. If you click on the ? 100 times, you will hear the 1-Up sound just like the game which is pretty fun. It does not do anything but for fans of the franchise, it is a nice touch.

This is not the first time Google has modify their maps for some special occasion and it is nice to see that they are thinking of new ways to make things exciting.
