Back in March, Motorola blessed the Moto Z Play with the arrival of the Android 7.0 Nougat. This update features an improved variant of the Doze Mode along with multi-window capabilities, custom quick settings menu and a special button to terminate all apps at one go.

However, it looks like Android 7.0 isn’t the end of the line. An XDA forum user inquired the customer support about the arrival of the Android 7.1.1 to the Moto Z Play device and the representative affirmed that the update is still being worked on.

Take this with a grain of salt as the rep could have gave off the wrong information but there isn’t any reason for Motorola to hold back the update for this device or even the Moto Z.

Even so, there is no guarantee that the Moto Z Play will gain entry into the upcoming Android 8.0 update. That said, even if the device’s progress end on Nougat, it wouldn’t be all that bad if its on version 7.1.1.
