The refresh of the Honda Accord for 2016 that still borrowed heavily from the Acura TLX sedan didn’t win too many fans, though fortunately it didn’t scare away Honda’s faithful following.
While the promise of turbocharging for the next-gen Honda Accord is more than welcome, it is not as concrete as the fact that there will be styling influences from Acura.
The Honda premium brand has gone for an overhaul, previewed by the Acura Precision Concept design study that has made quite an impression with its influence on the new styling of the Acura MDX SUV.
It is bound to reach the Acura TLX soon enough and from there aspects such as the diamond pentagon grille and sharper lines will trickle down to the main Honda nameplates, none more so than the Accord.
Could this new styling language be in plans to reach the tenth-gen sedan? Given that the Civic has already moved on to its tenth-gen model, it is about time for the new Accord which is roughly as old as the Civic to arrive.
It is believed that the new model would land in dealerships in 2018 and should be revealed next year. Would the new Acura design make a significant positive impact on the upcoming Honda Accord?
