Subaru Impreza & Crosstrek Recalled Back Over Engine Issue

 -

Subaru will be issuing a recall to bring back two of their models after it was reported that there might be an issue with the engines.

The first recall will affect the Subaru Crosstek and the Impreza as it was reported that the engine control module might power the ignition coil even when the driver shuts off the vehicle. This could lead to a short circuit and blown fuse. The short could also happen mid-drive which would cause the vehicle to lose power puttitng the driver and passengers at greater risk.

The fix would be to update the engine control module software. The automaker will also check the ignition coil to see if any replacement is needed. If they do replace the ignition coil, the front exhaust pipe will also be replaced.

The recall will affect about 466,025 units of vehicles including 2018 – 2019 Crosstrek and 2017-2019 Impreza.
