The issue of new electric-powered models being too quiet has been talked about for some time now and the solution for many of the automaker was to add in a noise when the car is traveling between certain distance to inform people that it is there.

Automakers will get to decide what kind of noise they would like their vehicle to emit and for Tesla’s Model S, it will be a ringing noise which will be blasted from the exterior speakers.

One Twitter user posted a video showing what the Model 3 sounds like when backing up which is actually pretty interesting and weird. You can check out some of the videos online.

According to federal law, all-electric and electric vehicles will be required to have some sort of noisemaker starting the 1st of September 2020.
