Red Barrels has announced a new Outlast game called The Outlast Trials and from the looks of it, this new Outlast game could be multiplayer.

The game will be set in the Cold War era this time and players will be allowed to the horrors on their own or with other test subjects which means there will be some sort of multiplayer mechanics this time. Seeing as the other games were both single-player games, this is something new and interesting for the franchise.

The new poster showed the test subjects wearing goggles leading people to speculate that there will be some VR elements this time but according to the developer, that is not it. Chances are, those are probably night vision goggles to replace the video cameras that the previous games had.

The rest of the game is still a huge mystery right now.
