A reboot of the Tomb Raider films is in its pre-production stage and the ball has started to roll as the film’s director Roar Uthaug has broken the silence regarding his plans for Lara Croft.

According to the Norwegian, he wants the portray the iconic treasure hunter with more depth.

“I think making Lara Croft feel like a real human being, that’s definitely something we want to bring to the big screen as well,” said Uthaug.

On the gaming side, Lara Croft has been reinvented the success of two titles in the latest reboot, the most recent being Achievement in Videogame Writing from the Writers Guild of America Award.

The newest Lara Croft is certainly a more interesting character to adapt for the silver screen in comparison to the original character in the 90s and early noughties who was lauded more for her appearance than anything else.

Uthaug has said that he has “always been a fan of strong female characters” so we should hope to get a proper Tomb Raider film this time around.

I heard through the grapevine that they are seriously talking to
Mayim Bialik to take the lead for the new film…

Not my first pick, but I’ll wait to criticize until I see the movie.
