In conjunction with the new emperor’s coronation ceremony happening in Japan which will be happening next month, Toyota will be releasing the one-off Toyota Century convertible model.
Called the “royal parade car”, the vehicle will be used to transport Emperor Naruhito as he makes his way through the streets of Tokyo to Akasaka Palace.
The vehicle will be coming in to take the place of the 1990 Rolls-Royce Corniche will have been around for 30 years now. The new Century will also be used for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games next year and will also be on display at the palaces in Kyoto and Tokyo.
While the special edition model will look the same in terms of design, it will be fitted with a retractable roof and modified rear end and seats with backrests that are fixed at 25-degree angle. It is believed that the powertrain will also be carried over.
