Volkswagen’s new factory in China has been completed and Volkswagen is now ready to start producing the Volkswagen ID with the automaker announcing that the first pre-production car has rolled off the assembly line.
According to Volkswagen, the first MEB riding ID model will be a China-specific Volkswagen ID. The new plant will have an annual capacity of 300,000 and this plant will be where Volkswagen Group will be building other models that ride on the same MEB platform as well.
While Volkswagen prepares to produce more EV models in China, they are also working hard in Germany where the production for the ID.3 Hatchback is already well underway. It is estimated that Volkswagen will be assembling about 100,000 battery electric vehicles in 2020 and three times more the next year.
